Camel and Jeep Safaris
are popular in Bikaner . Most begin with a tour of the city and nearby sights, followed by a trek through the desert, with frequent stops at rarely visited traditional villages where you can witness local handicrafts and desert lifestyles. Also common are intercity safaris to Jaisalmer and Jodhpur . As in Jaisalmer the safaris can often involve combinations of jeep, horse, and camel travel. Few hotels offer safaris, and those that do operate exclusively through independent agencies and tend to be slightly more expensive than if booking through a tour office within the city.
Cinema
Entertainment There are a few movie houses in the city, some of which show films in English or with English sub-titles every so often. For more information ask at your hotel on arrival.
Cricket
Is a popular sport throughout India and if you are up for a game, wander across to the Gajner Palace where regular games are held and either join in or watch from the sidelines.
Cycling
A few hotels rent out bikes but they are cheap enough to buy and resell if you want to peddle long distances, say from one town to another or ride regularly without renting. There's a three km cycling track located at Gajner Palace for those who like to ride on a specified path and not have to worry about traffic.
Elephant Polo
Nepal and Rajasthan are the only two places where polo is played on elephant-back in India (the game is also played in Thailand ). Though not a serious sport, it attracts the international media because of the oddity of a fast game played from the backs of pachyderms which can hardly move fast in the confined space of a stadium. It is, however, amusing to watch. Competitions are arranged a few times a year and for more information you are advised to chat to the concierge of your hotel on arrival.
Golf
Lallgarh Palace has a golf course that is open to both guests and the general public.
Horse Polo
Is a thrilling sport to watch or partake in if you have any experience and have made arrangements prior to your arrival in the country. While here, experiencing at least one chukka (game session) of this, the sport of Kings, is well worth it.
Wall Climbing
A state of the art wall climbing facility is available at the Karni Singh Stadium that's 40-ft high and climbing courses are conducted here by the National Adventure Foundation, so are professionally run, for those who might feel a little concerned.
